Bio
In June 2025, after 40 years as a Teacher and School Librarian, I retired. Currently I am Vice-President/President-Elect of REFORMA de Florida, and Chair of the Book Review Committee of the Children & Young Adult Services (CAYASC) of REFORMA National. I am honored to have received the 2025 Elizabeth Martinez Lifetime Achievement Award, awarded by REFORMA. In 2019 I served on the Newbery Committee, as well as the 2011 Pura Belpré committee. Recently, I finished a 4-year term as Secretary of REFORMA National (2020-2024), and a 1-yr. term as Secretary of REFORMA de Florida (2024-2025).
Besides being a member of REFORMA, I am a member of the AASL (American Association of School Librarians). I have been a blogger since 2012, and was a school librarian for many years. In 2022, I returned to being a classroom teacher and, after 40 years in education, I expect to retire in June 2025.
When I'm not blogging, I like to read, run, race and sing - not necessarily in that order.
My blog reviews books I enjoyed (or didn't enjoy), which leaves you to ask yourself "Should I Read it or Not?"
