Bio
A little bit about myself, I started photography, developing and printing at the age of 13 after discovering a darkroom in my Secondary School. Photography has been part of my life for the past 48 years, I have used a wide range of cameras, Praktica, Minolta, Nikon, Fuji, Panasonic and now a Canon 650D. I have recently taken early retirement from my job so I am now trying to start up a small business photographing retail and e.commerce items for internet sites and publicity leaflets. Luckily I have had experience of this type of photography over the past 7 years and a good knowledge of Photoshop has been invaluable.
My main interest though is landscape and seascape photography, with all this time on my hands it enables me to pack sandwiches and a flask and go out for a day to the coast or countryside. My little dog accompanies me most places and usually gets into the picture in some way, usually a pair of ears or a tail in the corner of the image, thank goodness I can use Photoshop. Walking in the coast and countryside is good for the soul and to bring back some good images is a bonus. I am now getting familiar with the use of the Canon, most of my images have only the basic improvements that I used to do when printing conventionally. eg contrast, burning in, masking and toning.
My other interest is West Coast USA, road trips over the past few years meant travelling over 9000 + miles, meeting fantastic people, amazing scenery and lots of picture taking opportunities. The last road trip was the wild west towns (watched many cowboy films in my youth) plus Yellowstone, Bear Tooth Pass, Black Mountains etc. etc. Previous travels include Sequoia, Yosemite, Death Valley, Route 66, Las Vegas, SanFrancisco, Grand Canyon, Zion, Mesa Verde and many other places to numerous to mention, if all goes well next year an extended stay in Yellowstone and Yosemite and a return to Jackson Hole to re-photograph the mountains without the smoke haze we had this year.
So interesting and challenging times ahead. Bring it on.
