Bio
I am a 61 year old woman, ill health retired for over 25 years from social work. Earlier in my career I trained as a high school teacher but quickly became disillusioned with the politics around teaching in the UK and changed to social worker for children and young people. Having retired on health grounds my husband and I wanted to do more than survive on our pensions and as our expertise lay with teenage children - he too was ill health retired from high school teaching - and so we became foster carers. Our role were effectively divided particularly for me as I am able to physically do very little. My husband does all the physical Caring, the cooking, washing, cleaning, chauffeuring etc. While I give the most emotional support to the children who come into our care.
