Bio
Jason has been on the senior management teams of six different venture-funded enterprises, filling the roles of corporate counsel, business leader, compliance officer, and innovator. His executive experience encompasses the fields of education, compliance, integrated services, the life sciences, and the media. His private practices now focus on the education and emerging growth sectors.
Jason was Chair of the Ethics, Compliance, and Corporate Governance Committee of the NJ Corporate Counsel Ass’n (NJCCA). His experience has given him notable expertise in:
- Serving as General Counsel for innovative companies, including the operational skills and practical and entrepreneurial mindset necessary to serve as the first or sole in-house counsel of an enterprise;
- Corporate ethics and compliance, including education, communication, and the management and improvement of compliance programs;
- Writing, negotiating, and closing complex commercial transactions, including those involving M&A, licensing, intellectual property, technology, and strategic alliances; Jason’s expertise includes the creation of contracting processes and metrics to track the success of those processes;
- The specific compliance demands facing educational institutions, the government contracting sector, and the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Jason has also shown a career-long commitment to innovative education and the engaging communication of knowledge, as a means of improving communities, personal behavior and business performance. As Founder of LAWCAST®, he created a ground-breaking form of continuing legal education; at EduNeering, he drove a new approach to compliance education, focused on elevating behavior rather than just meeting minimum requirements; and at LRN, he applied principles of engagement to expand one of the broadest learning libraries aimed at ethics in business. Now, as a consultant, he helps institutions address the regulation and ethics of education.
Jason earned his law degree cum laude at the University of Pennsylvania, and his B.A. in Public and International Affairs with high honors from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School.
