Bio
I am a professor of comparative literature, gender studies and media studies; a writer and media producer; an activist and community organizer.
I founded the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers in 2011 dedicated to nourishing and activating women's voices and visions. I co-founded Green Fire Press in 2014 to open up more publishing opportunities for books that matter.
I lead writing workshops, retreats and journeys with a special interest in purposeful memoir and spiritual ecology as themes, and lecture frequently on these topics, as well as on my ongoing interest in "women writing the world."
Seeking to align the personal, political and planetary, I blog at Transition Times (bethechange2012.wordpress.com). In addition to many articles and book chapters, I have edited three anthologies of women's writing from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and North America, and have a memoir and a book on women's leadership forthcoming.
I am available on a limited basis for writing coaching and developmental editing.
