Bio
Dr. Myron Oglesby joined the faculty at Belmont in 2005. She teaches classes in Diverse Learners, Educational Psychology and Foundations of Education. Known more specifically across the state for her skills and expertise in organizational leadership and school reform, Dr. Oglesby has more than 30 years of experience in education at the K-elementary, University and Adult levels. Prior to joining Belmont, Dr. Oglesby served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University in the Department of Leadership, Organization and Policy.
For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Oglesby served as an educator with the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County Public Schools System. While there she served as a teacher, assistant principal and as principal, opened the first public Montessori School. Under her leadership, this renowned Magnet School doubled its enrollment from 200 to more than 550 students ranging in ages from 2 to 9 nine years old.
More recently, Dr.Oglesby served as the first Urban Specialist for the state of Tennessee and the Department of Education. Additionally, she served as the Director of the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship Program, the state’s largest financial scholarship program serving more than 65, 000 students across the state of Tennessee providing access to Higher Education.
