Bio
I am first a woman and a mother. I am a member of the Reserves (military). My career, since age 18, has been in health care. I received military training in 2000 to become a surgical technician. Since then, I have obtained a bachelors degree in psychology and a bachelors degree in nursing. All of this mixes into some pretty interesting perspective.
My writing-
During my undergraduate work in psychology I was presented with a challenge- to declare my minor. Honestly, I chose a minor in English out of convenience. My original "plan" did not include a minor, instead, a double-major in psychology and nursing (there is more to that story). At a very decisive point, I deviated, applied and gained acceptance to another local university that offered an "accelerated" nursing degree with the "right pre-reqs." That is when I had a long talk with college counselor and made that very fateful decision leading me into writing. What happened next was three semesters of spending time with my true college sweetheart- writing.
After graduating, taking a semester off, subsequently being hurled into an intensive program of study in nursing, going through a divorce, getting remarried, a deployment, three kids and three moves later---- I finally realized this:
Writing is a part of who I am.
Duh, me.
I have created this blog for two specific reasons.
1. There is a need for informed medical information in common and down-to-earth terms.
2. I eventually want to broaden my horizons in different realms of writing and what it is to be, not just an author, but a writer.
Please follow me and see what happens. I am not promising great masterpieces, or even topics that spark discussion. What you will more than likely read about and watch develop is a practical, everyday person, writing about what they know and believe in.
Feel free to email me at J.Averbeck@mail.com for any questions you would like answered. Businesses, websites, publishers interested in more of my writing, please feel free to email me as well.
Finally, my disclaimer:
I am not trained to be your doctor, medical dictionary, nor can I tell you what is wrong specifically with your health or what you should do. WHAT I CAN AND WANT TO DO, is help you understand certain medical language and give you a big picture of how that may impact your life and why you need to be in control of your health.
Enjoy learning!
