Bio
My website is joelwestheimer.org.
I am University Research Chair in Democracy and Education at the University of Ottawa and an education columnist for CBC Public Radio. I grew up in New York City where I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in the NYC Public Schools. I graduated from Princeton University in 1981 and received my Ph.D. in education from Stanford in 1996. My wife is an English literature professor and we have two beautiful children. My latest book is What Kind of Citizen? Educating Our Children for the Common Good.
