Bio
I am an artist; a maker of image and objects. My work, often starting as drawings, uses a wide variety of dry and/or aqueous media. Most of my finished work ends up being created on panels, paper, or mylar; it combines varying levels of abstraction and realism. For many years I was an artist-educator; working as an art professor. Now I teach near home or much further afield with adults in short or long term in person classes and in workshops.
I am excited, intrigued even, by so very many things: archeology, history, biology, ecology, natural history, and aesthetics. These interests and passions do show up in my work. Currently, I am mostly interested in balance ... the balancing required in the very process of creating/making in the studio; also the balancing needed to be making art, teaching, taking/making time to really be with family, volunteering/serving in my community ... and being fully myself in all of these activities.
