Bio
Politicuss, aka the Rev. Johnny Reb Hashana: an amalgamate of various prominent features of me psyche, you know: moral preacher, good ol' history boy, solicitudiate of the Jews and Israel. My mom was born on an island in the Mississippi River between Tennessee and Arkansas, so I have one leg in the old South with all its charm and awful, virulent racism---that's all mostly gone now, thankfully, but it was quite common to hear the n-word from some folks on her side of the family, back in the '60's and 70's. Her ma and pa were highly erudite for being Southern farmers but it was hard for some of the kids, my aunts and uncles, and some of the cousins, to escape that culture. She knew people in her childhood who'd burned a black man alive, for rape i think. Also we had a great great granddad who fought for the South in the war. Mom taught me to admire Martin Luther King and personally I could care less how much melanin is in your dermis, what matters to me is "the content of your character" as the great MLK put it.
So that's the Johnny Reb aspect, I thought Reb Hashana works nicely as a complicator, what with the campaign by the internationalist-left to de-legitimate Israel. And there's a desire in me to preach, something, to speak out for the true and the just in history and in our lives, even though they're hard to follow and figure out sometimes.
