Bio
on studied architecture and urban planning at UCLA where he was also a national champion pole vaulter. After graduating, Jon went to work for Larwin, a major housing developer. Later to a small Architect/Developer, Angel, Mock & Associates. He went on to do land planning and housing design for various developers. Shifting gears a few years later, he went to work for the Interior Design firm, Yates & Silverman to study hotel and casino design. After a subsequent stop at Cannell & Chaffin’s architecture department, Jon was hired to work on a major expansion of the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas where he lived on-site for over a year. As a result of this he designed several independent hotel projects, stores and restaurants. This lead to contracts to design the first and second full-size, American-style department stores in Saudi Arabia, and several other retail stores in the US. After years of too-much travel, Jon began to gravitate back to his first interest, residential design and construction with projects in Santa Monica, Brentwood, Bel Air, Pacific Palisdes, Calabasas, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Laguna Niguel, etc. Always particularly sensitive to the quality of built projects that he had designed, Jon acquired his own contractors license and began to build them himself. Today, SpatialFX is a fully integrated design / build service with honed design skills and experienced work crews of superior ability.
Perhaps more importantly, over the last 15 years or so, Jon has worked with Adventures In Life in Mexico to design several churches, homes, and facilities in poor, underdeveloped neighborhoods. He is currently working on a residence and training center, a medical clinic, and an agricultural development station in Oaxaca.
