Bio
My name is Julie Amos Pedersen. I'm a young Danish woman, who is traveling to learn. My goal and dream is to live in a simple and sustainable way. I want a quiet life in line with my Scandinavian roots, while taking the best from the joyful and passionate sides of the cultures I meet on my way.
I have a bachelor's degree in English, taken at University of Copenhagen. I focused my studies on intercultural communication and immigration. At Malmö University in Sweden, I took courses in Outdoor Education and Teaching for Sustainability. I did my master degree in Food Culture and Communication at Slow Food's University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, Italy. Our focus was on human ecology and sustainability.
What has been driving me in my studies and what I have been writing about whenever I had the chance was how being in nature and working with nature has a healthy effect on our brain, our well-being, our mood and our self-esteem. And on how we interact with each other.
So what do I want to learn? The list is not short.
I want to learn how to work and cultivate the land. How to use our natural resources in the most respectful way. I want to dig into traditional knowledge of wild nature, agriculture, artisanship and cooking.
And I want to combine it with the creativity of photography, writing and music that are among my passions.
I want to work with people. I've been engaged in work with children, elderly people and people with cognitive disabilities. I love the human contact and I love learning from them and with them.
When I've become good enough at all these things... I would like to teach.
