Bio
I'm a really good cook, or so I'm told! But I'm not a very good baker... I’m working on it, though!
I lived in Osaka, Japan for seventeen years, where I was a dance teacher, performer, choreographer and stage director. Oh, and I also taught English (anyone who spends more than a month in Japan ends up teaching English).
I've traveled extensively in the Far East, and have seen a good deal of America as well. Thanks to my six year stint as a flight attendant, I've also been to Europe, Africa and India.
I am an unrepentant Democrat, liberal and intolerant of the bigotry and greediness that the GOP has come to represent.
Oh yeah. I'm married. Gay, and married. Asking me "who's the husband" is like asking which chopstick is the fork. Mark is my beloved, and Max, a Cairn terrier (think Toto), and Bugsy, a beagle complete our family.
Many chefs attribute their best recipes and successes to their mothers. I can’t do that. My mother was a saint, but she wasn’t a cook. Her idea of a recipe was warmed canned green beans with Bob’s Big Boy Roquefort dressing dumped on top (us kids would eat nearly anything with Bob’s Big Boy Roquefort dressing dumped on top). I learned to cook because I couldn’t FIND any Roquefort dressing in Japan, Bob’s Big Boy or otherwise. I did find some bleu cheese, and a copy of “The Joy of Cooking,” and so started my love of the kitchen arts.
I’m a rather inconsistent blogger; I hope you’ll keep checking in, and I welcome comments from anyone and everyone; I wanna hear what YOU’RE doing, too!
