Bio
My name is Kari, I'm 32-years-old and I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend, Mike for 7 of them. At the moment, we are choosing not to be married. I don't feel as though marriage defines my relationship nor would it make me happier or more committed than I already am. I think society puts a lot of pressure on married couples, mostly on women and in turn, their husbands. I'm just not sure I'm impervious to that pressure. So, I started marrymeknot, a blog about our culture and it's obsession with the institution. Why have we become so fixated on weddings, (where a budget takes a back seat to exceeding expectations)? How do we survive the odds of a 50% success rate? And if we are one of the couples that comes out on the other end--still together, can we be happy doing it? Will we even be doing it? I hope to say, "yes" to at least the last one.
