Bio
I’m a 50 year old free spirit these days. I’ve been married and had 2 fantastic girls who make me proud every day. I’ve always worked around family. I’ve always had a background process within my awareness.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2007, divorced in 2009, and started to renovate houses while working in a local building society for steady, reliable income.
I eventually realised the external renovations were a parallel process with my internal journey.
I’ve studied Buddhism, was brought up a Roman Catholic and find spiritual teachers who’ve discovered enlightenment on earth and learning from our life situation and people we meet, for there are no accidents, the teaching that takes us to our higher power, and I have always strived to be the best person I can be.
What would I like to do to make a difference while I’m fit and healthy enough to do it, and it has to be something amazing?
In 2016, I entered the Great North Run representing the Newcastle Building Society’s annual charity, The Percy Hedley Foundation. I couldn’t even run round the block in March and by September I was running 10 miles, with the help of These Girls Can Run, a local running club in my area. This showed me I could do anything I put my mind to.
I followed my heart and from talking to Sophie, my oldest daughter, who has worked in the National Careers Service, I decided to be an English teacher. In 2018, I graduated in an FdA, which is a foundation degree in Education and Training for Language Specialists. On my Placement I taught functional skills English for the first year and ESOL in the second. I taught at Centrepoint for 6 months, a charity for homeless young people.
I saw the difference learning English made to the students lives. They needed the language to integrate into the UK, to find work. I learned that English was the global language and I had a qualification and was an English native speaker, and there was a large demand for those things worldwide.
My 25 year old and my 22 year old daughters were pursuing their careers. Sophie has a degree and is working as a support worker, heading toward social work, and Hollie has a degree and is doing a Masters in Mass Communication. She helps local businesses improve their turnover by publicising their offer and more, she has done proof reading work, and website media work, to maximise business potential. Hollie set up this blog. She’s so clever. I’m so proud of her.
I came up with the perfect plan. My tenant served notice on the flat. I moved the girls into the flat, put a long term tenant into my house and moved out to Cambodia to teach Khmer children English and have the opportunity to help them have a more prosperous future. Sophie manages properties in her job so she also manages mine. I trust her implicitly and she makes me proud everyday.
I can still be back home for helping with grand children, but this time is my chance to be free to pursue my life changing goals. Isn’t this amazing!
Why not follow my journey... next stop Italy! Ciao for now! ...
Lock down rudely interrupted my processes both external (obviously) and internal. See my new bio site on Word Press here https://wordpress.com/site-editor/kazzzab.wordpress.com to catch up with Karen Bell, Geordie Hypnotherapist, mind-changer, mother, woman.
