What do you do when you're pregnant with your 5th little boy, your husband tells you he's met someone else, and you’re a single mom one week later? You pick up the pieces, put your faith in the Lord, and work your tail off!!!
And that's just what I did - with a few bumps along the way!
Using an "alternative pathway" others said 'couldn't be done' I went from being a SAHM and newly appointed part time youth minister to obtaining 7-12 math certification (despite not being a “math person”), starting an international college test prep business, and working 3 jobs while parenting 5 little boys alone.
I also knew life was about more than the grind of divorce and overwhelm of single parenting. It was about more than being stuck in an unhappy Marriage and believing the only way to be happy is to walk away from vows and family.
I wanted to share my story of triumph in God’s Grace and the truth of the American dream thanks to the men and women and their families who give and sacrifice so much for us and began Single Mom Smiling while working to become an ICF certified women’s life coach.
Today, I write, speak, and coach women from teen through retirement through my new site StrahlenGrace.com motivating them to move from feelings of worthlessness, self-pity, overwhelm, confusion, anger, loneliness, and fear to become confident, courageous, joyful, focused, strong, beautiful, authentic, and loving.
I love God and America and those who protect and defend us all. In my free time (what free time???) I enjoy sports, camping, and rough housing with my 5 boys, but I've also learned to value my femininity and enjoy being a Grace-filled woman as much as I enjoy helping others embrace who God created them to be.
And in case you’re wondering about that 5th little boy...He is the greatest Blessing and a constant reminder that God’s plans are always greater than our own!
