Bio
Welcome! I'm 50 yr old Kim DeBerry. (I have to type that number that while I can since I have a birthday coming up this Saturday!) I 've been married to my wonderful husband Greg since I was the ripe old age of 18! After several years of marriage, we became foster parents to fifteen kids. Stop what you're thinking right there!! Are you kidding? Not all at once, I'm not THAT crazy!! We were foster parents over a period of about eight years. A few years into fostering, we were very blessed to be able to adopt our daughter, Kailey, who was brought to us straight from the hospital at 2 days old, and then later, our son Nicholas, who was 4 months old when he arrived at our home. Their adoptions weren't immediate, and were definitely a bumpy roller coaster ride, but thank God we were finally able to officially make them a permanent part of our family!
A couple of my many passions are cooking and entertaining. I was in the process of working on a cookbook and starting a cooking blog. Eat, Drink, and DeBerry, when my life suddenly forced me to zig, when the goal was to zag! In April of 2014, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They say (whoever THEY are), everything happens for a reason. I quickly determined that I was going to use one of the reasons for my diagnosis as an excuse to help other individuals and their loved ones that have also been handed a twisted turn.
I will be sharing my experiences (the good, the bad, and the ugly) and what I've learned (the good, the bad, and the ugly) as I continue on my unexpected journey.
