Writer. Wanderer. Wild spirit.
So much of my life is shaped around seeking, investigating, learning. Striving for a flow state, endeavoring for connection.
When I'm outside in the mountains on the trails, bounding over rocks, strolling through the woods or meadows, feeling deep mourning walking where a glacier dwelt for a while, gazing wonderstruck at the beauty that is the natural world and this universe and all the things we can't touch, can't see, but can feel if we let our guard down. Running, looking for those golden moments that take me outside myself. Reaching for transcendence, for those things beyond, the deeper intangible reality we can't nail down with materialism.
I have been exploring mountain trails my entire life. I am a marathoner and ultramarathoner as well as an avid hiker. I have made over 154 summits of Colorado’s Fourteeners and stood atop the highest peaks in Mexico, Germany, and Tanzania. A NOLS graduate, I have taught and mentored both children and adults on camping, orienteering, and safe mountain practices. I enjoy exploring mountain ranges around the world, especially through sports such as mountain running and ski mountaineering. When not in the backcountry, I spend my time cross-country skiing, reading, writing, or enjoying live music with friends.
