Bio
I am me .....
I've worked in mental health for over 25 years. I am a trained, experienced, confidential, professional counsellor and psychotherapist. I have had my own private practice for the last 20 years.
I have a background of working in the community, forensic settings with staff and with offenders, immigration and probation.
I work with people who find themselves unhappy in their present situation. I offer a safe space, a warm response and honest dialogue.
I use Transactional Analysis as a way to understand ourselves and our relationship with others.
I use it in my daily living.
I live better for having this frame of reference in my world.
I've always enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. I find the medium of expressing myself on paper therapeutic and rewarding.
I write for me. For my own pleasure. Sometimes I write some words that I decide I'd like to share with one other or some others.
When working with clients I invite people to reflect on certain aspects of what we have have discussed during therapy.
They have a choice, they can write and share their writing with me before the next session and we talk it through or they write for themselves and talk about their own reflections at the next session.
Writing for therapeutic understanding isn't an academic art form. I am not someone who will edit words or check grammar. The words, format expression is unique to each individual. It's power is allowing ourselves to express ourselves honestly and openly.
I enjoy walking, photography, pottery, playing with paint, opera and of course writing.
