Bio
I am a transplant to the Great Northwest, where I have lived for the past 6 years. Uprooted from the deep Southern soul of Memphis, TN. Although I reside in Seattle, WA, I am so undeniable even irresistibly drawn to the rawness the South. Lately, I find myself relating a lot more to the idea of home. Where is home? What is home? How am I home? Perhaps I have always searched for a deeper understanding of home, of the embrace that manifests in feelings of safety and security in my geographical residence, in my relationships, and absolutely in myself. It is only recently that I have begun to realize that my yoga practice has brought me closer to the embodiment of home than anything I have experienced, ever. Through this rich and often intense process of going toward myself I unveiled my passion for teaching. As a result, I now have the opportunity to share what I practice. Since 2008, I have been teaching yoga in Seattle and most recently have joined strengths with Erin Beattie, practicing Hellerwork Structural Integrator, to form Loving Fiercely, a collaborative effort of yoga and bodywork that focuses on the mindfulness of structural alignment as it relates to the moving body. In addition to my work with Loving Fiercely, I continue to teach independently in several studios around the Seattle area and nurture my practice working one on one with students to address their specific yoga needs. I completed my 200 hour Teacher Training certification under the auspices of Kathleen Hunt and the numerous guest teachers that contributed to the curriculum. I remain a loyal student, whether in presence or in spirit, to my teachers at Samadhi Yoga Center, most notably Yvonne Croteau who reveals the many delights of this practice that I have yet to uncover for myself. In the Winter of 2011 I began the Anusara Immersion with my beloved teachers, Denise Benitez and Elizabeth Rainey with whom I endeavor to study with throughout my Anusara Training. These inspiring women have shared with me the most profound teachings and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to study Anusara in all of it's beauty, intelligence and precision. I will complete the Immersion at the end of 2011 and proceed with the Anusara Teacher Training in Winter 2012. My yoga practice has become so much a part of who I am fundamentally, how am in the world, and how I am at home. Through this avenue, I wish to offer my insights, the "stirrings of my hearty" as I journey toward home, toward my internal light, back to my innate wisdom.
