Bio
Hello everyone!
My name is Lena! I am a registered nurse and Master of Nursing student at Athabasca University. I graduated with my BScN from the University of Ottawa in 2020 and have since been working in a variety of clinical settings. My main background is in Orthopedic surgery and perioperative nursing, where I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I have also worked with Ottawa Public Health in their vaccination strategy campaign and in LTC to assist with the staffing crises. As a junior nurse, I spend a sizeable amount of time floating to other units within the hospital which has given me the opportunity to advance my knowledge and skills outside of my specialty. My inspiration to pursue my Master’s in Nursing stemmed from my curiosity for knowledge and love for learning. In surgical care, best practices are constantly evolving and there’s always something new to learn or discover. Over the years, I have discovered that the diversity of the role of a nurse is tremendous. I find it fascinating that nurses can specialize in a wide range of services in any setting. Through grad school and my personal nursing journey, I aspire to become a stronger and more knowledgeable professional.
