Bio
Bio / Artist Statement
Rod Woodland is a freelance visual artist, photographer, and figure model. He recently combined two of these talents at the Soho Photo Gallery in New York City. Rod presented a thematic series of tasteful nude self-photographs in a competition-winning effort, besting entrants from twelve different countries. Presenting photography in this venue gave Rod a platform to display a contemporary version of the “selfie” which, in today’s world, holds vast appeal.
Fascinated with creating provocative and sensually bold images, he often presents assorted genres of figurative art. These art forms allow him to assume a variety of unique personas and give him the opportunity to express himself through myriad body poses and attire.
For the last 18 years he has created a distinctively fascinating avant-garde portfolio with imagery that he’s proud to share with the world.
Rod has experience collaborating with other visual artists and posing as a life model. His future endeavors include figure modeling for individuals and groups, an outdoor self-photography series, and the development of a self-published, self-photography coffee table book.
Rod recently completed two New Century Artists, Inc. exhibitions in New York City and a month-long solo fair in Adams Morgan (Washington, DC), highlighting his fashion illustration and illumination artwork.
