Bio
Michael paints both on the canvas and on the screen. He favors impressionism over realism because he feels that a painting should communicate feelings, not just a picture of something. Each brush stroke helps create an illusion of comfort and calmness.
The Artist also paints abstract to convey quick and explosive movement. Some compare him to Jackson Pollocks' work, but Michael disagrees by saying, "I am nothing like Pollock. His work just looks like splatters to me and looks like a mess. That's not my intent when I create my splatter paintings. I like to show movement especially when dry/tacky colors mix only slightly. The end result is something similar to mathematical fractals."
Recently Michael has picked up a new software tool called "Art Rage." He loves the program because it allows him to paint or draw without the mess, smell, or endangerment to the environment from using paint thinners and oil paints. "With the tablet," he says "I can do any size piece I'd like in a matter of hours which would normally take a month the traditional way, and I can have hundreds of projects and never have to worry about running out of space in my home."
His customers are astounded by how great the "screen" paintings are, but Michael will still paint the traditional way from time to time for customers and himself who wish to have it done the old-fashioned way, "Besides I've got to hold onto my talents!" he declared.
