Bio
Hi
My name is Lorraine Baron and I’m a new artist. Music is my post-career. I was a high school teacher and I loved loved loved what I did. The privilege to spend time with kids as they graduate and become young adults - so awesome! I did win an national award a few years back for my teaching (If you like, pls see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXSYuiAyYIk for a quick short news story about my award) - (top 13 teachers in the country that year - whoop whoop! :). Then I did a bunch of fun professional stuff like get a doctorate in education and teach at the Uni of Hawaii for a few years :)…
But now I get to be a musician! And, if I thought I was passionate about teaching, I just can’t believe how driven I am to keep creating music. Over the past year and a bit, I have learned how to use GarageBand to lay tracks, and up until now, I’ve created every part of my music, using harmonies - loops/beats, my own midi tracks for base, percussion etc, and tons of harmonies. I love writing lyrics too.
If you have a moment - please slip on a pair of headphones and listen to a couple of songs - then please do read on!
A song I wrote for Jason Mraz because I find his work and his goals inspiring.

Recently I’ve gotten a lot of watch time from this new fun acoustic cover :)

The coolest thing is that I didn’t know I had the skill set do this until now, since I never had any training and so rarely played my guitar. The best part about creating music is that feeling when the song is really new, and you just fall in love with it and want to hear it/sing it/play it over and over again… then create a new one and repeat! Perpetual love! Whoa!
I’m super-happy with what I’m doing; however, I know for a fact that everything can be improved. There is no way that me, by myself, with such little experience/training (no matter how persistent), can write, create, sing, mix, produce, advertise, etc… at an excellent level… I am only one - dedicated musician.
Recently, I have connected with a couple of hip hop artists for collaborations, and I have some really cool songs “in the can” ready to be mixed. Our common goals are - no disrespect towards women, men, or self - and no violence.
Music can heal and really can impact everyone - particularly youth.
Maybe the best part of where I am in life is that I’m totally comfortable and happy, with an awesome husband, wonderful house, family and friends, so I don’t need fame and fortune in any way - the dream, for me, is to have an impact with music. For folks to be happy and love and enjoy the sounds and ideas I create (or co-create with others). As a teacher, I gave away a lot of time and a lot of my heart - even though it’s still all there! - and every moment I gave away was worth it because it always helped a kid. I’m quite sure that music can heal too, and that’s partly why I’m so impressed with where Jason Mraz is taking his music.
Cheers for now, and thank you so much for your time.
Lorraine
