Bio
I am Lucas Rosa, the top amateur mma fighter in the country and now a professional mma fighter. This blog when I was fortunate enough to be awarded a Watson Fellowship. As a Watson Fellow, I am one of a very select 40 people in the country to be on a funded yearlong adventure abroad, one where I will explore a topic and project that I am passionate about. My Project “Mixed Martial Arts: A Philosophical Perspective” aimed to look at MMA from an intellectual perspective. I lived abroad for a year and explored the ways MMA was a key into cultures, was a pursuit of knowledge, and how people garnered meaning out of it. Since then I’ve trained obsessively and gone on to become the top amateur mma fighter in the USA with 17 wins in two years and now a professional fighter. I still seek to change misconceptions about the vocation, one I view as a pursuit of knowledge.
