Bio
Durand Garcia (MA, MBA, SAG/AFTRA), film producer; has spent many years as an actor, fight choreographer and educator, before committing to producing films, writing and directing. He co-founded Luminarias Theatre Co., which performed twice at Center for the Arts Yerba Buena Gardens. He has directed or produced for St. John’s University, Luminarias, Dominican University, and African-American Shakespeare Company among others. He was the resident Fight Choreographer for African-American Shakespeare Co. (1989 – 2019), The Eugene O’Neill Festival, Hillbarn Theatre Co. (2007 – 2014) and Role Players Ensemble (2013 – 2019). Mr. Garcia, began acting at the age of 16, but the following year he founded Heirs Magazine and edited and published it for 13 years. He and Douglas Corwin founded and published San Francisco Theatre Magazine in 1977 and published four issues. It was the first real theatre magazine in San Francisco. Luminarias Entertainment Group is his independent film and television production company.
