What's a baker to do?
I'm Mark Friend, owner of Farm to Market Bread Company in Kansas City, Missouri. I've been in love with bread most of my life. Over twenty years ago I decided with a friend to start a bread company that would bake bread the old fashioned way. I was tired of seeing soggy, unappetizing bread wherever I went. I was ready to travel back in time and create bread the way it used to be.
Today, with the bread company happily delivering artisan bread loaves daily to several local restaurants and grocery stores across the Kansas City metropolitan area, I'm looking to spread the word even further about what good bread is - where it comes from, how it's made, and most of all how to enjoy it as bread or in a delicious recipe.
So, please join me on this journey through flour and water and starters to celebrate bread, its glorious history and its glorious today.
