Bio
I have been in the design and building field from a very young age.
I began an apprenticeship in carpentry, molding & log carving with my grandfather at the age of eight. My first renovation was that of a log home at the age of 12 with my grandfather.
My first constructed design was completed when I was 14 years old for a teacher in middle school.
I won first and second place in the Michigan Industrial Education Awards-Architectural Division in high school and also won an award for "Outstanding Achievement in Architectural Studies for the Decade" during my senior year of high school.
I started my own firm a month after graduating from high school and worked my way through college designing and contructing various projects, both on my own and for other firms.
I was awarded several letters of recognition by the Dean of Architecture for submissions made to open house tours at Lawrence Technological University.
I was a student assistant to a professor of Construction Technology at Lawrence for a year.
I was recruited by the same professor to join a firm in Denver and worked as a construction engineer and estimator on hospitals, prisons, power plants, sewage treatment facilities, office buildings, and government projects throughout the western United States.
I again started my own firm designing and building residential structures in Denver, later relocating to Michigan where the busniess expanded to include medical and office structures.
I have been awarded a "Master Builder" certification and a "Master Remodelor" certification by the National Association of Homebuilders.
I sat on the Board of Directors for the Michigan Association of Hombuilders for several years.
I have been awarded the honor of being named "One of America's Best Builders and Remodelors" on four different occasions, and been listed in national publications.
I have received several other design and construction awards throughout my years in the industry, but the greatest honor I have received has been the continued and repeat calls to design and construct projects for existing clients.
That clients have asked me back into their homes as a friend and continued adviser, designer and builder has been the most rewarding part of my busniess career. Serving the needs of, and providing a means to design and build the dreams of my clients has been the greatest pleasure I have had bestowed upon me. Knowing that my clients are aware that I am protecting their interests means a great deal to me.
I intend to continue creating residential, medical and commercial mixed use projects along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
I have expanded into a preservation/sanctuary format of land development allowing for public community spaces and wildlife lanes to maintain free movement of wildlife through the developments. These developments will be located in the rural areas of western Michigan. The private enclaves will include designated land conservancy parcels along waterways with full access and use for all residents.
My focus is on providing for my clients needs and desires while attempting to lead them away from the much larger estates and residences I have created in the past toward more reasonably scaled structures focused on a high degree of finish details, quality family and public spaces with a very high energy efficency and environmentally compatible use of materials, site design and execution.
