Bio
Holistic health has been a part of my life since my 20's, but when I was diagnosed with leukemia three years ago, it became a lifeline. Now in remission, I'm using my lifetime of experiences with nutrition, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle to help others find balance and see their way clear to holistic health.
I've always been athletic and aware of the importance of a healthy diet. This really hit home for me when in my late 20's, I was plagued by chronic sinus infections and debilitating fatique. I was put on the antibiotic merry-go-round, which as we know now, only exacerbated the problem. Out of desperation, I sought out a holistic doctor who was also an MD. He diagnosed severe candida and prescribed a strict diet and gentle exercise routine. Within weeks, I felt my energy and vitality come back. My journey toward holistic health had begun.
After more than a decade of good health, I found myself as a single mom and with a demanding career as a retail buyer. I was overwhelmed and exhausted and actually had the thought, "I wish I would get sick so I can have a few days to think about what I want to do". I was hoping for the flu, but got something bigger. Six months later, I was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenous Leukemia. Within days I was undergoing aggressive treatment that would ultimately involve multiple rounds of chemotherapy, months away from home, and two bone marrow transplants.
From the day I was diagnosed, I was determined to learn and do all I could to support my body from the leukemia and the powerful onslaught of chemicals that I would receive. I adopted a strict diet, exercised daily, utilized many alternative therapies, meditated, journaled and for the first time in many years felt the complete peace of being fully connected physically, mentally, and spiritually. Medically it seemed to work as well. I went into remission, and with my diligent regime of diet and exercise, have been able to wean myself off of the drugs normally required for transplant patients. My doctors have been amazed and have documented some of my successes.
Through my healing, my path forward became clear. I received my training to practice Holistic Health Coaching at the renowned Institute for Integrative Nutrition and am a Certified Health Coach (CHC) and am certified and accredited by American Association of Drugless Practioners (AADP). I complement my nutritional training with my certification as a Reiki Practioner.
I have learned a great deal about the importance of balance in our lives. I feel passionate about helping others achieve a state of balance through nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle awareness.
