Bio
I have worked in the field of sight loss for over 32 years, mainly in the UK for major charities such as Guide Dogs for the Blind, Social Services and Local Education Authorities as well as in Australia, Europe and Asia.
I have taught the subject of Orientation & Mobility on all UK Diplomas since 2000. I co-wrote the academically accredited BTEC Level 4 and 5 Diplomas and built an online learning framework to deliver accredited programmes. I was instrumental in bringing a free rehabilitation focussed MOOC to a global audience and in writing and producing an e-learning framework that acted as a resource tool to support GP (Health) surgery staff.
I have an MA in Business Management (Distinction) received from the University of Portsmouth and hold a PGCE/Certificate in Education (Adults). My research has offered a unique insight into the complexities of on-line learning and the assessment of performance.
I continue to practice in the field and lecture in Orientation & Mobility.
