Bio
Wairimu Gitahi “wears two hats". She is a journalist and the founder of Mediatwenty Productions (mediatwentyproductions.com). She is a Photographer, Television and Radio producer. She has a keen interest in doing documentary and feature stories.
She is keen on telling the world about the creative ways in which Africans tackle various social issues that they find themselves in. In so doing, she hopes to honor the struggles of those who smile through the pain of life’s challenges and also present lessons that others may learn from them. In order to present these stories truthfully, she sees the need to continuously improve her skills in the 3 fields of media she concentrates in.
She works/ has worked with various media organisations including The BBC World Service, Reuters, Bok go Bibliotek, The Guardian, Worldvision podcast, NPR, among others.
Wairimu has a bachelor’s degree in communications. She studied photojournalism and documentary at the Market Photo Workshop,Johannesburg. She has a diploma in the French language.
Through this blog she hopes to share the journalist work she does. But most of all wants to learn from all those who will look through this blog.
