Bio
I was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up in East Lansing, Michigan. I attended The Grier School but graduated from East Lansing High School. Eventually and after a couple of hit-and-miss attempts, I graduated from Michigan State University with a B.F.A. in Studio Art but lacking 12 cr for a B.A. in Art History. I lived in Bogotá between 1966 and 1978; went back to the US and graduated from college. Came back to Bogotá. I never stopped writing through all this time and have been published, but stopped looking for publication during the 1980s. I've finished a short novel, whichh is the first volume of a series (I did not plan this; it just happened!), and soon I'll be looking for an agent. I've started to fiddle around with painting again. When I'm not writing or painting, I do fine art photography, taking advantage of the best darkroom I've ever had but experimenting with digital for color.Most of the images in Flickr were all taken with a film camera, but the latest ones are from digital cameras. I just bought a Kodak Z981 and am experimenting with it. Haven't made any prints yet, but I will eventually. I also like to read. Favorite magazines are Vanity Fair, The Atlantic and Gatopardo. I'm reading the full transcript version of "On the Road," in Spanish, and plan to follow this with "The Dharma Bums." I go to movies and the Metropolitan Opera's Live HD transmissions. I also go to concerts (symphonies, chamber orchestras).
