Bio
New Zealand based Folk Singer Songwriter, Mike Mckendry, is full steam ahead into planning his 6th full album, of purely original material. From the release of Heavenly Armour back in 1992, to the Compilation Come Together, released by Ian McAllister in 1993, and then into a full Live concert, released in 1994, to the Heaven& Earth album released in early 2001. Now with 1000's of views of his YouTube channel, including his song "Face To Face", he is still promoting the 5th album that the song Face To Face featured on originally.
Local Christchurch artists and entertainers, will remember Mike as wearing a few different hats, from performing an Elton John tribute, as part of the "Starlight Show band, around 2007 - 2009, pub and private gigs, to playing folk John Denver covers and originals at Bishopdale Mall, appearing monthly performing in the rest homes, playing at open mic nights and Sunday stints at "Moon Under Water".
Mike has busked all over Sydney, usually for periods of up to 2 months at a time, it was during his last time there Nov 11 2016 - late Jan 2017, that he wrote 2 of the songs "Face To Face" & "I Lay Down", that are on the Original NZ Folk/Gospel/Blues, compilation. The song "Nashville To L.A", also on the compilation, was a re-hash of a song he wrote whilst on a 3 month tour across the United States, from August 1997 - early December 1997, experiences of whatever nature, have always help to en-rich his songwriting.
Around 2005, Radio Rhema hosted a National singer/songwriter contest, "The Big Break Contest", his song "Servant Heart" made it into the top 20. Rhema also aired other songs in the 90's of Mike's.
Mike has been an active member of APRA since 2012.
