Bio
I am a licensed attorney and Navy spouse with a passion for exposing and combating global injustices. I've spent the past seven years researching, studying, and advocating against various social injustices, including the global human trafficking epidemic. My heart and hope lies in ending exploitation and abuse, rescuing the oppressed, and punishing the perpetrators. I'm presently self-employed as a freelance law clerk (http://www.lrw4attorneys.com/), but I also recently co-founded two social ventures with my colleague, Jenny Blakey - Phoster Candles and the Light the Dark Campaign.
Phoster Candles is a brand of specialty candles founded on the principle of sustainability. Phoster Candles’ mission is to eradicate poverty, disease, and injustice through sustainable economic opportunities, global awareness campaigns, and financially supporting compelling social causes - To date, we are the only candle company that is founded on these worthy causes and principles. Our candles are made manufactured in the USA using 100% beeswax and 100% cotton wicks, and our pure essential oil fragrances are developed using ecologically sustainable agriculture techniques by impoverished famers in locations such as Rwanda, Ethiopia, Ecuador, and India. Our first candle line is set to launch in February 2013!
Phoster Candles is also the primary sponsor for the Light the Dark Campaign- an innovative global human trafficking awareness campaign. Light the Dark’s mission is to foster global collaborative action that inspires every nation to eradicate slavery. In October 2013, Light the Dark will unite organizations, businesses, scholars, authors, students, the faith-based community, celebrities, consumers, and passionate individuals for a weeklong global campaign to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery. The Campaign is scheduled for October 21-27, 2013 - during that week, awareness events will be held all over the world by participating organizations and individuals who are passionate about ending exploitation. We don’t have a central “event” such as a conference or a summit; instead, we’re uniting individuals and organizations around the world by encouraging them to raise awareness in their community during the Campaign week. There is tremendous power in sharing our collective passion for human dignity and freedom at the same time in every community – although each organization has a unique mission, we’re all part of the global movement to end human trafficking and modern-day slavery.
