Bio
Michael attended the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre under the direction of Sanford Meisner. He performed in numerous off, off-off Broadway and regional productions. As a playwright, Michael's work has been produced in both New York and regional venues. He was a finalist at the Eugene O'Neill Conference of New Plays, a winner in the Writer's Digest Competition for Drama and a finalist for three consecutive years at the Live Oak Theatre's International Play Competition. Michael received his BS (magna cum laude) in Film from the University of Texas at Austin. He was later accepted to UCLA's Graduate Screenwriting Program. While attending UCLA, he received the Burns and Allen Comedy Writing Award as well as the Harmony Gold Award for Writing Excellence. He received the Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award, which was cited in both Daily Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. More recently, he was a finalist in the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Contest's horror category. He was subsequently asked to be to be a writer-in-residence at AFF's Writers Ranch. Michael teaches at the University of Calfornia at Riverside as well as at California State University at Northridge.
