Bio
I am a beautiful African, Kenyan, no matter my size(self-love), mother of one beautiful black princess(no my dad is not an African king) and wife to a strong US military man. Years I have struggled with my weight trying anything and everything on the internet to lose the weight, in 2014 while I was working oversees, a requirement for the job was to have a BMI of below 40, I had no idea of how the BMI calculation was determined. This was a great job and not getting it meant that I would hate myself for being so fat not to even get employed, it did not matter if I was academically qualified for the job. I got the job since my BMI was 37 but I knew that there was something wrong. I needed to do something, I tried all the fad diets you know of, I would lose up to 16pounds but I would gain it back almost immediately. I was tired of this vicious cycle, I looked at my peers and to me, I seemed like an auntie🤦🏻♀️ I always looked older than my peers. I soon came across Bariatric Surgery websites, I was Kenyan working for an American company in another foreign country, I had great insurance cover but I had to cover all my travel and hotel expenses while in US for the surgery, I wasn’t ready then. Today my BMI is at a staggering 45🤷🏽♀️, things happened; PCOS, emotional eating, depression and everything in between. Today 7yrs later, I document my Safari through Bariatric surgery, This is for me; to stay focused and remind myself of where I’ve come from, I hope this helps you too.
