Bio
Myo Htut Myaing earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the City College of New York in 1998. He worked in the New York metropolitan area for 15 years in the Facilities Management field working directly under supervision from New York City architects, taking care of corporate real estate for Citibank and later Nomura Securities International. He worked as a Project Manager for the fit out of the new Nomura Securities headquarters at Worldwide Plaza in New York City, which Gensler Architects designed and achieved LEED Gold from USGBC.
He later returned to Myanmar in January 2015 and began working in SPA Project Management as an architect and project manager. He began his service in the Association of Myanmar Architects (AMA) in early March of 2017 in the Central Executive Committee as a committee member, and later taking on roles as a member in Education Committee, and Professional Development Committee. He was later appointed as Joint Secretary 2 of the Central Executive Committee when the position became vacant.
Being a lifelong advocate for green and seeing the lack of green building standards and proper understanding of passive design in the architectural field in Myanmar, he formed the Green Architecture Committee (GAC) with other like-minded architects under AMA in June of 2017. The mission of GAC is to push for professional and public awareness of green and sustainable architecture and passive design, and to instill a proper understanding and knowledge and to establish standards of passive design in architecture as well as green and sustainable philosophy and practices. Since formation, GAC has successfully organized round table discussions, public presentations, a joint design competition, and workshops on green and sustainable architecture.
Myo is the founder and trainer at Inception - A Studio for Architects & Designers, a co-working studio for architects and designers, and currently teaches seminars and workshops for young architects and architecture students.
