Bio
Suneel Vatsyayan has a Master’s degree in Social Work with specialization in criminology and correctional administration from Jamia Millia Islamia. He was invited for the International Visitor Program of the United States Information Agency Washington D.C. in August
1995 to study drug treatment, rehabilitation and correction services available in different
parts of United States of America.
Alcohol Control and substance abuse In 1987, he joined Navjyoti, Delhi Police Foundation for Correction, De-addiction and Rehabilitation as the founding Director and worked for more than twelve years, he did groundbreaking work in the use of peer counselors with addicts and people living with HIV/AIDS and
their families. He supervised Navjyoti Drug Dependence Treatment and Rehabilitation centers
and workplace alcohol prevention programs funded by Ministry of Social Justice and
Empowerment. Drug rehabilitation program was awarded with the UN 1999 Serge Sotiroff
Memorial Award for outstanding contributions to international drug control efforts.
In 2000, he joined Caring Foundation as Director, an NGO working in the field of Mental
Health, alcohol, HIV/AIDS Prevention and Community Empowerment. Later he helped in setting
up and supervised peer counselor based program at DAV School Vasant Kunj along with
ARPAN project (Association of Recovering Peer Action Network) and AARA (Achievers Alliance
of Recovering Addicts) for promotion of standard of care and continuing education among

Mr.Vatsyayan continues to contribute voluntarily as founding Chairperson of Nada India.
Foundation serves the marginalized & under privileged section of the society and promotes
drug free healthy life style with a focus on prevention of Non communicable diseases by
involving young people. Currently, he is founding member of the Governing board of Healthy India Alliance.He has been associated with IOGT International and writes updates

Awards
NADA International Vision Award in 2000 in Kentucky (USA). I was awarded by NADA
International for my leadership and vision as a social worker and his work in the field of
drug addiction, street and slum children a devising a peer-based drug program.
Rotary Vocational Service Award in 1998 for his work in the field of drug addiction and
crime prevention with the Delhi Police.
The government of Delhi awarded him with “Dilli Ke Gaurave Award “ by then Chief
Minister in the year 1994
