Bio
William Mangino II, M.D. is an anesthesiologist who specializes in pain management. He founded National Pain Consultants, Inc., for the purpose of bringing expert pain care to patients worldwide
. Doctor Mangino blogs on issues related to pain, medical care, criminal law, social issues, and the legal aspects of prescribing pain medications.
Doctor Mangino has testified in federal and state courts on issues related to chronic pain from injury, disability, and diseases which cause pain. Doctor Mangino has spoken before The Philadelphia County Medical Society on the appropriateness of interventional procedures in managing chronic pain, and how the central nervous system modifies and encodes pain signals, and how pain becomes chronic.
Doctor Mangino has served as a disabilty evaluator for The Social Security Administration.
Doctor Mangino's current fields of interest extend to all diseases which have a significant chronic pain component, such as fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, multiple sclerosis, and certain immune diseases and connective tissue disorders.
Doctor Mangino is a proponent of opioid medications for pain conditions that have not been alleviated after a 'reasonable' attempt has been made to effect a cure with other forms of treatment.
Doctor Mangino was prosecuted in 2007 for "unlawful prescription" under Pennsylvania's Drug Act - and spent 102 months in state prison at Albion, Pa. after which he was released. During his appeals, Doctor Mangino acted as his own attorney and published most of his appellate briefs on the internet: most of which are available on the Pain and Addiction website, "adeluca@doctordeluca.com" and BORDEN@drcnet.org" Much controversy surrounds the case.
While Doctor Mangino has made his writings available in the past, free of any charge; He plans to publish medical articles and pain related articles which will be offered at nominal cost. He will continue to "blog" free of charge on the issues directly related to what he believes is in the best interests of the millions of pain sufferers - as a public service.
In addition, Doctor Mangino will offer at nominal costs public information opinions not usually available through regular media channels. These opinions based on Mangino's experience are not to be construed as medical advice-only as informaton on various medical-legal-social topics.
