Nicole's been grounded! Since she can't come to us, and getting to her isn't likely a viable option for many of us either, a few of her friends in Nebraska brainstormed a way to make something happen. I don't know about you, but I want to be able to feel a part of her experience and get updates that I could miss in my Facebook newsfeed. By steering away from a traditional shower - I think we can bridge the distance gap and have even more on-going participation during her pregnancy than we might otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy.
At this site, we can get updates, see pictures of ultrasounds and maybe even baby bumps (hint hint hint!). This site will also provide registry information. Additionally, we plan to have baby shower-esque games and activities that you can participate in as you like.
This shower needs no RSVP, it will be an on-going event. There will be an activity or game posted every other week or so. Within the time period of the activity, you may post answers at any point. If it is a game with a prize - at the end date of the game, points will be tallied and the prize will be mailed out. For instance, if the game was "How many different words can you make from 'Baby Shower'? At any point within the following two weeks, any participant may send in their list. The person with the most words would win, the answer would be posted here for all to see and revel in! And a magnificent baby shower prize would be mailed out in a timely fashion.
From time to time it may be a non-prize event, such as what we will kick off this most innovative of baby showers. In that case, your responses will be compiled into a scrapbook for Nicole to remember what thoughts, advice and general mayhem that we are able to come up with to aid her in this wondrous adventure that she and Mustafa are beginning!
