Bio
Ya’at’eeh! Hello my name is Kimberly Lee and I am the owner of Nizhoni-Lee Created. I am originally from Black Mesa Arizona which is located on the Navajo Reservation. I am from the Navajo tribe my clans are Lok’aa’dine’e (Reed People Clan) born for Kinlichii’nii (The Red House People Clan) my maternal grandfather’s clan is Tachii’nii (Red Running into Water People Clan) and my paternal grandfather’s clan is Ashiihi (Salt People Clan). I currently reside in Flagstaff Arizona with my husband and two kids. My family has always been a huge influence on my artistic ambitions. Growing up I watched my mom create jewelry with seed beads. My dad carved sculptures from alabaster. My parents always encouraged my siblings and I to have an artistic outlet. So naturally I learned a variety of crafts. Why did I start Nizhoni-Lee Created you might ask? Well, I can honestly say that a 13th century Persian theologian Rumi said it best “Let the beauty of what you love be what you do”. I genuinely enjoy creating authentic wearable art pieces that are influenced by my indigenous culture and traditions. During the creative process I like to reflect on how I want to tell a story with each piece. Weather it is the energy behind the natural stone or symbols derived from Navajo rugs. I want my customers to feel empowered & fearless when they are wearing jewelry designed by Nizhoni-Lee Created.
Ah hee' (Thank you)
