Bio
Hello,
Hello, I am Njoroge Ikonye a Ph.D geography student at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a proud Kenyan.
I received my B.Sc. (Forestry) in Moi University, Eldoret Kenya in 2004. After completing my B.Sc., I worked with the Greenbelt Movement for a period of four years. Greenbelt Movement is a non-governmental organization in Kenya that mobilizes communities to protect the environment by using tree planting on public land as an entry point to environmental conservation. Later on, i decided to pursue further studies at Miami University, Oxford Ohio (a small college town) and graduated with a Masters in Geography in 2012. I conducted my master's research in Mt. Kasigau Kenya. The purpose of my research was to investigate how integration of GIScience and local knowledge could contribute toward understanding land cover changes.
Beside my academics, I like travelling and taking photographs. My goal is to at least travel to all the continents in the world. I have at least been in North America (United States - In different states), Europe (England, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway), and Africa (Kenya - off course, Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, and Ethiopia. I love food (roast goat, Kachumbari, and Ugali - I can survive on those the rest of my life).
I also like football (or what American call soccer) (my religion and Manchester United is the best club in planet earth). I also like other sports (volleyball, table tennis - i actually play it, rugby, formula one, basketball, ice hockey). I am also love politics but I am not a politician.
