About
My name is Will Ferullo. I am a health and wellness advocate, and am also very active in the sport of obstacle course racing (OCR). I train very hard for my races utilizing many different techniques. My two main training activities are CrossFit like gym workouts and running. I typically do CrossFit like gym workouts 3 or 4 days a week, and also run 3 or 4 times a week. I do many different kinds of runs including long runs, hill repeats, interval track work, weight vest workouts, and runs where I do some bodyweight exercises throughout the run, things like bodyweight squats, lunges, bench jumps, pull-ups, push ups, and of course burpees. No workout is complete without at least 30 burpees! On non-running days I will hop on my bike, an elliptical machine or arc trainer, or a rowing machine.
Nutrition is a huge part of my training and lifestyle, if not the most important part. I try to eat a variety of different foods, vegetables, meat, chicken, eggs, nuts, seeds, fish, and beans. Vegetables are really the staple of my daily intake. I try to work 3 or 4 servings into each meal, and a couple extra veggie snacks throughout the day.
The purpose of my website/blog is to try to get the word out about health and wellness. I think the more voices we have pushing a healthy diet and lifestyle, with the right information is for the best. My approach is to keep things as simple as possible. There probably won’t be many complicated recipes that I post. I’m just not into that kind of stuff. I keep things simple and sustainable. If being healthy is too difficult people will not do it. There is plenty of convenient junk food at everybody’s disposal. My goal is to tell people that it’s not that hard to be healthy. It’s actually pretty easy when you get into the swing of things. Don’t get me wrong there is definitely an adjustment phase, and that should be done slowly. Don’t jump right into a lifestyle change with both feet, do it gradually. If you are going from the standard American diet to a very healthy and clean one, I think there’s just too much change to take it on al at once.
Speaking about “diets”, what I preach and practice, as my diet is not a fad diet, or a temporary thing, this is for the rest of your life. It is a lifestyle change, not a diet change in the regular sense of that term. That’s why it’s good to take it slow there is no rush.
I hope through the ideas that I present here, that I can help people improve their lives and health. I also want people to participate. If you don’t agree with something, or you have a better idea, or something that works better for you, let’s hear it. That’s what it’s all about. Let’s get the discussion going.
I also don’t pretend to be an expert. I just listen and read a lot of different people that know a heck of a lot more than I do. I take what they say try it out for myself, and see what happens.
