Bio
A brief history of me involves the importance and influence of food. Food, glorious food. My earliest memories are of eating, cooking, playing in the garden and experimenting in the kitchen. My Italian grandfather had the best garden in our backyard. Even though we lived close enough to an airport where we could almost touch the belly of the planes as they passed overhead, we also had an abundance of fresh figs, tomatoes, fennel, carrots, eggplant, several kinds of lettuce, and many other vegetables. Everyday involved tending to the garden and enjoying the delicious variety of fruit and vegetables from our yard. Sunday afternoons filled our house with the activities of cooking and spending hours at the table, eating, drinking homemade wine (Sahara red we'd call it), and talking about food. Family vacations both near and far included trips to the local market to investigate and enjoy whatever was local, interesting, and both familiar and different to us.
My curiosity and delight with food of a particular region grew with me. Details to come but for now I'll let the pictures of my recent time in Thailand take the place of words. Okay......with a little bit of text in there as well.
