Bio
The Old Colony Public Housing Development in South Boston, MA Built in 1940.
The site is one of the largest in the Boston Housing Authority (BHA’s) portfolio, with more than 16 acres.
The original development contained 873 apartments in 22 three-story brick walk up buildings.
The site is currently being redeveloped.
Due to it's age, the Old Colony (OC)development is currently the most physically distressed site in the BHA’s FEDERAL portfolio.
A major emphasis of the redevelopment is the use of green building and energy efficient measures. Building envelopes, interiors and systems will be designed to achieve an optimum standard in green and healthy housing
The new, eco-friendly "Green" units will be NOT be managed by the BHA. They will be managed by Beacon Communities.
Beacon’s team of highly experienced residential real estate professionals develop, own and manage over 30 communities throughout New England, Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia and Maryland.
Phase one of the OC Redevelopment is almost completed. Residents are scheduled to begin moving in December.
