Bio
I have been taking photos for over thirty years but when the digital age started that was the game changer for me. From my early Kodak D6440 to my current canon 1D X II it has been a great journey of learning. Once I made the decision to go from snapshots to great shots I did a Diploma in Fine Art Photography which fuelled the passion. I enjoy all forms of photography with my greatest challenge to date being able to master birds in flight. Along the way I also discovered a passion to do aircraft in flight and have travelled extensively trying to capture that perfect shot. It may seem strange but my eclectic approach to photography has led me down many paths with a lot of help from people I admire for their specialities – Art Morris, Ari Hazeghi & Glenn Bartley for Avian Photography, Mark from MJ Aviation for inspiring me to visit the Mach Loop to photograph low flying jets, Corrie White for introducing me to the wonderful miniscule world of water drops. And last but not least my friend Craig Loechel for showing me what could be achieved using a macro lens and a lot of patience.
Most of all though I enjoy sharing that passion with fellow photographers and if you are a Canon shooter you are in luck as I do lend my gear when not being used to my friends in my camera club and the social groups that I am a member in. Being the son of two teachers I do enjoy the mentoring part of this role and get great enjoyment out of seeing the results of others knowing that I played some small part in their success and enjoyment in photography.
