In 2008, my husband and I welcomed a son into our lives. Our journey to adoption through Colombia was riddled with the ups and downs of gathering paperwork followed by waiting as others received and processed it. The greatest worry during those months of preparation was wondering whether our documents would be received and handled in a timely and reliable manner.
