Bio
The Papua Language Institute (PLI) represents Papua’s solution to the growing demands of globalization and the resulting internationalization of Papua.
The PLI is the first institute to be established in Papua which is entirely focused towards building capacity in languages. The PLI aims to build capacity of local Papuans by equipping them with the tools they need for global communication. In this sense, the PLI is a gateway for local Papuans to communicate internationally and access global opportunities.
The PLI also serves as a centre for language training for non-native speakers of Bahasa Indonesia who wish to begin learning or improve their Bahasa Indonesia proficiency. In this sense, the PLI also serves as the Melanesian gateway to Indonesia.
