Bio
I am a food writer and restaurant critic based in Central NJ. I serve as the South Jersey editor of the Zagat New Jersey restaurant guides, including zagat.com/nj, and contribute restaurant reviews and features to New Jersey Monthly magazine. I write regular columns for two New Jersey newspapers: The Princeton Packet and U.S. 1.
Other newspapers where my byline has appeared include The New York Times, The Star-Ledger, and The Times of Trenton, as well as in Food Network magazine. Within our fair Garden State, I’ve written for Edible Jersey, New Jersey Life, South Jersey, New Jersey Countryside, and Garden Plate magazines.
For six years I was the host of “Dining Today,” a live, weekly radio show on food and dining, which was broadcast over WHWH (AM 1350) Princeton. Among the many celebrities I interviewed are Alice Waters, Emeril Lagasse, Jacques Pepin, Lidia Bastianich, Marcella Hazan, Tom Colicchio, Rick Bayless, Pierre Herme, Mark Bittman, William Grimes, and Governors Christie Whitman and James McGreevey of New Jersey.
A former caterer and corporate trainer, I co-founded the Central Jersey Chapter of Slow Food and am a professional member of the James Beard Foundation.
I have volunteered for Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation, the American Heart Association's Chefs With Heart, AIA's Canstruction, and the Hospitality, Restaurant, and Travel Academy at Trenton Central High School.
I was born and raised in Newark, one of seven children in a food-obsessed Italian-American family. (Although “food obsessed” and “Italian American” are, needless to say, redundant.)
