Bio
In January 1938 Ray Edwards was born in what was known as a ‘Royal Manor’ in the ancient parish of St Mary, Lambeth.
In 1922 this Hospital on Brook Drive was created from a former workhouse in Lambeth.
During the war Ray he was evacuated to Wales at the age of two where he spent his formative years.
At the age of seventeen and a half he joined 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment, and saw active service in the Cyprus emergency. During the 1960s he also took part in the Borneo campaign and Northern Ireland.
His final posting was as a Senior Staff Sergeant Instructor at the British School of Infantry Tactics Division, Brecon Wales from where he purchased his release in.1970.
